The Octagon - FOUND!!!

Does anyone remember that movie "The Octagon"? Starring Chuck Norris?

Basically it was a movie about - wait for it - Chuck Norris kicking ass.  It was one of his first starring roles.  One bit of trivia I learned is that Mr. Norris was actually a stunt man  on "The Blues Brothers" movie. Belushi was the one that told him to go into acting. Think about that the next time that you're watching "According to Jim".

Anyway, in the movie, the aforementioned Mr. Norris has a hard time locating The Octagon itself. That's where all the killer ninjas were. As if Mr. Norris would be messing around with non-killer Ninjas.

Keep that in mind as I finish weaving my tale here.

Because lately what I've been doing in my free time is going around to different small towns around London and checking out the countryside. My latest stop was in a town called Colchester. Now, I didn't know much about the town other than it was close.

But it turned out to actually be a pretty cool town. Had the castle and lots of old timey houses. I missed the castle closing time by like 15 minutes. Lame.  Apparently a lot of Romans used to live there. Then, coincidentally, I was watching a documentary the next weekend about Queen Bodacia, who battled against the Romans.

The Queen, it turns out, led a revolt of the Britons against the Romans. And the first place they trashed? Camulodunum. Which was leter to become Colchester. Which was the friggin' capital of Roman Britain. Holy moly.

And if you'll take a gander at the picture over there to the right, you'll see what ties this all together. For there, just off the main street in Colchester, I found the building that had Mr. Norris was searching for....the lair of the enemy...home to a thousand killer Ninjas...the root of all EVIL.

I had found THE OCTAGON -------------------------------->

AND CHECK IT OUT! There's what must be a  KILLER NINJA standing right there in the doorway. Obviously, he's taken off his uniform and he's on his smoke break. But that's a killer Ninja if I've ever seen one.

So I missed out on seeing the castle. Screw the castle! I had found THE OCTAGON!!!

And in a further twist of fate - our local pub around the corner from us in London? No, smartass, it's not  The Octagon.

It's The Queen Boadacia.
